Lacie’s Story
Lacie Burgett is a a graduate of the Interfaith Dental Clinic Comprehensive Care program. She learned about the Interfaith Dental Clinic from a trip to the Vanderbilt emergency room. She had an abscessed tooth that caused her entire face to swell. She never knew a toothache could hurt that bad! Fortunately for Lacie, Dr. Fredrick, that treated her there was also a volunteer oral surgeon for the Interfaith Dental Clinic. He took care of her emergency and told her all about the clinic.
When she came to the clinic, she had so much decay. She was so ashamed that she didn’t even open her mouth to talk. She didn’t smile at all. She just wanted to be able to smile in a picture with her children.
Through the clinic, she received numerous crowns, extractions and fillings and has been provided with two partials. But the clinic has not just helped her, they are also helping her three children. They are teaching them how to take care of their oral health so that they don’t end up in a situation like Lacie’s
