Doris’s Story
“Parents tend to let their teeth go to take care of their children’s teeth.”
Doris worked in a Metro School cafeteria during the school year and as a short order cook at a local restaurant during the summer to make ends meet.
She was missing several front teeth, had abscessed molars, and infected gums.
The teenagers she served at school “could sometimes be cruel” about her appearance, and Doris was having trouble chewing because of the pain.”
“The three treatment plans my dentist showed me were $20,000, $15,000, and $10,000.
When they changed my medical insurance at work, they dropped my dental. I was trying to pay $100 at a time, but I had a lot of abscesses that were hurting.
My dentist’s secretary recommended I come to Interfaith Dental Clinic.”
Over the next year, the staff at Interfaith pulled seven teeth, completed two root canals and crowns and made upper and lower partials.
Doris only had to pay 20% of the cost.
“My mouth doesn’t hurt. I can actually eat again. Its hard to chew when you ain’t got teeth.”
“It improved my appearance 100%. People say I look 10 years younger.
Now, people look right at me and not just my teeth. People just treat me differently.
When I used to smile at little kids in the stores, they would get all freaked out.
Now, they smile back. One of my students hugged me and said “Mrs. D, you look beautiful!”
